My 23rd birthday was two months ago, and I found myself panicking because another year of my life is behind me.To be honest, the fact that I’ve got no notable achievement this year has disappointed me somehow. I know things take time, but I also understand that my 20s will go by really fast. And I want it to be filled with many crazy, life-changing experiences so that whenever I look back, I can boldly say that I am so proud of myself. So in this post, I’m sharing my list of ten things to do before turning 25, which I think can challenge us in positive ways.
1. Visit a different continent:
“The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.” ― Augustine of Hippo
There is no reason to limit our life in one city, which might be stuffy sometimes. I believe that travel will increase the horizons of our minds in so many ways. There are so many places in the world I want to see. Therefore, I am going to put this on the top of the list.
2. Try An Extreme Sport
Sounds a bit creepy, right? My second goal is to step out of my comfort zone and try to experience something that has the potential to scare me. Believe me, it will give you more confidence and motivate you to do many other new things in your life.
3. Saving 10k for an emergency fund
Finances can be super essential factors in our life decisions, so giving ourselves more financial lessons will prevent us from falling into a personal recession. And since I have always been struggling with these skills, I guess saving an emergency fund is my first step in learning financial management.
4. Build My Personal Brand
This includes resumes in both English and Taiwanese, as well as my online profiles on LinkedIn and blogs. I hope to create an authentic personal story to show people who I am, what I stand for, and the values I embrace.
5. Donate to charity 3 times a year
Charity is not as difficult as we think it is. Even a small amount can make a big difference! We can simply donate old clothes, books or a small amount of money. The most important thing is the way we show our supports and help them reach their goals.
6. Learn a new field
I am now working as an Employee Relationship specialist, which is not related to my major (Information Management) at all. Marketing is my compulsory course in college, which I find fascinating. That is why I am considering getting a digital marketing degree through online classes.(Done! It’s blogging)
7. Cut my hair short
If you are following me on Instagram, I am sure you have known how long since I last changed my hairstyle. I want to try something new with my hair. So I decided to say goodbye with my long curly/straight hair.(Done!)
8. Read more than 100 books
I read somewhere once that the average number of books read by a CEO is 60 books per year, or five books each month. I will keep it small with about 100 books by the time I turn 25, which is 2 years from now. Cannot wait to see the result.
9. Run a successful online business
I own an online accessory shop in Taiwan. My goal is to reach 10k followers with about 300 purchases each month in the next two years. I know it quite a challenge, but I will try my best. Update: I have started my own designed fashion brand in Taiwan this year (2021). There are still a lot of works to do but I’m glad I started it.
10. Learn how to invest wisely
It is a bold move to set ourselves up for the future and retirement by investing. I am thinking about mutual funds or exchange-traded funds. But first, I still have some homework to do before confidently invest my money.
